I-Caught-the-Asia-Bug!!!

He  is a well known name in Textiles world and doesn’t need any introduction. He is on every  lifestyle , home decor or  textiles blogs and magazines.  India inspirit was running behind  but as  they say – It’s  better late than never . So , here I am introducing John Robshaw – immensely talented Textiles designer based in New York. His work speaks about his love affair with India and its intoxicating beauty. In his own words “I-Caught-the-Asia-Bug”  John had come to India to find natural indigo dyes for his paintings but  he  instantly fallen in love with India’s  almost 2000-year old precious textile traditions.

In an attempt to merge his international design background  with the skills of Indian craftsmen , he has been developing an impressionable  range  that reflects India's cultural diversity  with the quite stylish and modern twist and thus creating his signature look . His range has an Indian flavor and feelings , colors from soft , neutral to vibrant , designs drenched in ancient royal splendor, completely hand crafted, paying an ode to craftsmanship in India.

I loved the way John  has expressed his passion for work  “By producing my textiles abroad, I get to become a minor character in the lives of the people I work with, and I can take inspiration from what I see and do there. I go to their weddings, celebrate their festivals, I get sick with them, I develop relationships with the people who are teaching me. When you look at my textiles, its like you've been on the world tour along with me."

Would it not be double delight for us when we get to see not only  his work  but a glimpse of his beautiful house . His house is recently featured in lonny magazine .   Here are some of the captivating pics with so much of Indianness.

Happy New Year 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wishing all of you and your loved ones a very Happy , joyous , peaceful and magical New Year 2011!!!!

My new year  begins with  Louise Hay’s affirmation “ Today I release the past and walk into my glorious future  & I bless and prosper everyone in my life”"

2010  was  a beautiful year with change in  thinking , working and actions . I saw myself as a new person with new approach to life .  It was an year of bliss , positive thinking , loads of work , mixture of success and failures , new learning experiences , miracles happening in my life , an year of perfection and imperfection…… I thank everyone who are in my life  for making life a beautiful experience .

It took me really an year ( actually last 3 months 2010) to get back to blog despite my keenness to do so. When I was writing my last post in September , thought I will be writing more often ( This was my promise to myself at that time)  but things turned out to be other way round . I did not even get time to celebrate my dearest blog’s Ist anniversary ( 30 th  Oct) with you guys!!  Sounds bad …. but I was travelling very frequently first to Bangladesh and then to New York and other parts of world for my work .  Last eight months of my life has been hectic ever  ,  professional life really took over, family commitments and one little princess to look after  ,  there was hardly any time for myself.

I pray that year 2011 brings more leisure time for myself so that I do not dare to ignore my blog .

Will be posting very soon , till then leaving you guys with a positive note from Louise Hay , my special angel . Thank you Louise for being in my life !!

“Your thoughts and beliefs of the past have created this moment, and all the moments up to this moment. What you are now choosing to believe and think and say will create the next moment and the next day and the next month and the next year." - Louise L. Hay

Delicate Ceramics by Michelle Kosoy

Michelle Kosoy is a ceramic artist runs a studio kosoy bouchard in Toronto  with  her glass artist husband Pierre Bouchard .  She uses wooden blocks ( as used in  India for mostly printing fabrics, papers etc)  to  give her creations (earthenware and porcelains) a highly unique style.

Her work is beautiful, charming and  classy.  I am in love with her color pallets of white and neutral pale shades.  Well, it is not only beautiful; it is functional too. The shapes may look simple but patterns are intricate. the finished product is so elegant  .  Her fine lines and detail require a keen eye, a very steady hand and a good deal of patience . She has participated in various exhibitions Her work has now been picked up on by Art Gallery of Ontario, Hollace Cluny, and Good Egg in Toronto.

What a unique use of wooden blocks ? never ever could even think of ..

Do  not believe me? see it for yourself :
