Jo Lynn Alcorn Paper Art

Jo Lynn Alcorn , is a very talented 3 dimensional paper collage artist based in New York.  A  graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, using 3 dimensional paper collage technique in her illustrations , very much inspired by nature ,   Jo Lynn has worked as a Magazine Art director but soon returned to her passion  of dimensional paper art”.

Her collage technique is very interesting.  She  first sketches the artwork and then selects a  palette   of papers and  modified it further with paint and pattern,  Once this is done , she cuts out all the elements and then  constructs the piece in layers using tape , glue etc . Being a Graphic designer and also working with art directors and photographers , she has been able to blend in so gorgeously  items like jewelry etc within her dimensional collage  .

She has designed advertisements and catalog covers for Macys , Marc Jacob commissioned by Lane Crawford. , Harpers Bazaar, Anthropologie , Suede magazine etc .

As you know my blog is all about Indian inspiration so , I will first begin with her Indian inspired  illustrations that are stunningly captivating . Aren’t these out of this world ?? Narrating some tale!!!

Her style and colors expresses so much emotion that  really got me hooked on her work.  How  magnificently she has used those ornaments as little little details  as an embellishment on dress or turban or decorating the elephants etc. Superb!!

you can see more such illustrations on her site  - gallery section .
